Meet Chef John SharpeYou must be thinking, “What kind of chef could they have here in Winslow?” John Sharpe and his wife Patricia opened the Turquoise Room in fall 2000 after owning restaurants in southern California for many years. His career began in England as an apprentice chef in a five-star hotel. He graduated from the Westminster Hotel School and moved to Switzerland, where he worked and studied for 3 more years. Sharpe spent another two cooking in other European countries before moving to Los Angeles in the mid 1970s. Sharpe says, “People are always looking to place a label on the type of food we serve. I like to call it regional contemporary southwestern with an occasional tribute to the great days of the Fred Harvey Company.”
